HeroQuest Avond 09-03-2013
0Recently, our four Heroes have ventured further into the Witch Lord’s evil lair… The door to the Halls of vision lie before them.
As they enter the dark corridor, carefully searching for traps, they find only one door a little bit further on. Sjengis Khan the Barbarian takes the lead as usual and opens the door.
Inside the room they find nothing. Sjengis searches the tile behind the door for traps, and finding nothing, Eddy the Wizard walks in and makes sure the rest of the room isn’t trapped either. Butchmath the Dwarf runs past him to search for treasure as soon as the all clear is given, and finds a wandering mummie… The mummie attacks him, but Elly the Elf steps in and shoots the mummie down. “Do I really have to save your butt every single time you search for treasure?” she sighs.
The next room is a tiny room, and our Heroes head on into the next after checking for traps. It opens up into a tiny passage (with no traps as well), and beyong that is a larger room with a mummie. Elly decides to search for treasure in the previous small room, and spends an entire turn rummaging through all corners. She finds coins scattered around, adding up to 40 gold.
The Barbarian enters the new room and attacks the mummie. It blocks his attack. The Wizard steps in as well, and also attacks, but his staff is also swatted away by the evil mummie. Now Butchmath takes his chance, but his attack is blocked even more easily. While Elly is still searching for coins, the mummie attacks Sjengis Khan for two skulls of points. Sjengis can only block one blow and takes a hit. Enraged, he swings his Spirit Blade at the undead minion, and scores 4 skulls.
The mummie rolls 2 black shields, and is slain. But then one of the two exit doors suddenly vanishes! “What socery is this?” exclaims Eddy. “Well, only one way out now” says Sjengis. After Eddy makes sure there are no traps in this room, the Dwarf searches for treasure. He clumsily triggers a hidden trap, and takes one point of damage. Luck is once again not on his side. Elly is finally done looting, and passes the others into a corridor. She checks it for traps, and finds none.
Sjengis follows Elly into the corridor, followed by the others. Butchmath opens another door into a new room, with another mummie. This room only has one other exit. His turn is over, and Elly can’t see past him to fire a shot, so the mummie slowly shambles towards the Dwarf and attacks him. Fortunately, he blocks the attack. In the crowded corridor, the Barbarian can’t help, so Eddy uses his staff and successfully kills the mummie. But now the door in front of our heroes vanishes!
“Let me handle this”, Butchmath says, and as he searches for hidden doors, he finds one into the room. “There’s alsways an exit” he says smugly.
The Elf steps inside, and heads for the next door. Yet another room with another mummie awaits her. She chooses to ignore this mummie, in fear of making another door vanish, and getting trapped, so she runs past him to the next door, and opens it. She finds another mummie in the next room. Confusion sets in.
The second mummie turns it’s head, and walks towards Elly. It attacks, and hits her for two damage, which she is unable to block! The previous mummie heads towards the door on his right, blocking the way for the other three heroes. The Barbarian rolls a weak movement, and is stuck in the corridor. Eddy does a better job at rolling the dice, and he takes up position next to the door, planning a strategy with Butchmath. He attacks diagonally, but his attack is blocked.
Butchmath steps in front of the door according to plan, attacks the mummie, but misses. “So far for strike plan Alpha” mumbles Eddy. Elly decides to help them, so she turns around and fires at the mummie behind her. Her bolts are blocked, and the mummie lives. It attacks the Dwarf, but is also blocked. The second mummie doesn’t leave the yellow room.
Sjengis once again rolls badly on his movement roll, so Eddy takes another swing at the mummie. He misses. Butchmath attacks as well, but is blocked again. “Tough mummie, this one!” he moans, but Elly finally manages to plant a crossbow bolt right in its head. But once again, a door vanishes! Now Elly is cut off from the others. She steps into the far corner, hoping the last mummie can’t reach her there. It can though, and attacks her, taking one body point.
Sjengis finally enters the red room, and makes sure the room isn’t trapped. Eddy has another plan. “Hang in there Elly!” he shouts, hoping she will hear him “I’ll cast a spell on Butch here, so he can come and help you!” and casts Pass Through Rock on the Dwarf. He in turn walks through the wall into the yellow room, just in case the last mummie closes the door into this room after it is killed. He takes advantage of the fact that the room is empty, and searches for traps and hidden doors. He finds a door that opens into a new corridor.
The Elf uses her innate magic to cast a sleeping spell on the mummie. Having no mind points, the mummie can’t resist the spell, and falls asleep. During its turn, it fails to awaken, and now Sjengis and Eddy are left in the previous room with no option to backtrack and see if they can find another way to get to the others.
Butch opens another door, and finds a room with an alchemist’s bench and a chest. He carefully checks the tile behind the door for traps, but finds none. “It’s safe to go in lass!” he tells the Elf.
Elly steps in, and searches the rest of the room for traps. The mummie still doens’t awaken, and while Sjengis and Eddy keep looking for a way out, Butch searches the room for treasure. He finds 4 keys on the Alchemist’s bench plus 2 spell scrolls in the chest. As he touches the keys, all four vanished doors reappear! “Look!” Elly says “now the others can rejoin us!”. She heads to the secret door leading out of the yellow room, and checks for traps on the tile outside.
Meanwhile, Sjengis is back in the room where the very first door vanished. “Seems like the others found a way to restore these doors” he says to Eddy. He opens the door, and the next one. Another small room with one exit and a skeleton awaits. He attacks it, and reduces it to a pile of bones. Eddy follows him and walks into the small room as well, then searches for traps and secret doors. He finds a spike trap and a hidden door very close to him. “Phew! Almost stepped into that one” he exhales. “Better be more careful” Sjengis says. As Eddy turns around to see what the hidden door has revealed, he sees 2 skeletons and 2 zombies in the corridor as they turn their heads to see what caused the sound the secret door made. “Oh gods!” Eddy yelps “I’ve got a bad feeling about this!”
While the Dwarf follows the Elf, Elly enters the corridor and sees two more skeletons waiting there. Wasting no time, she fires her crossbow at the closest one, and kills it. Meanwhile, the poor mummie that’s sleeping still hasn’t woken up.
Another skeleton walks up to Elly, and attacks her, taking two body points. She is down to just one body point now. The skeleton near Eddy attacks him too, but he blocks the attack and takes no damage. As Sjengis waits next to Eddy, the Wizard uses his staff on the skeleton, and successfully kills it. He then runs away, taking cover behind Sjengis. “You go get ‘em!” he yells as he runs by.
Butchmath decides to block the hidden door, so Elly can take cover behind him and heal herself safely. She uses a Healing Water spell to restore 4 lost body points. After two skeletons attack the Dwarf and the Barbarian unsucessfully, Sjengis takes a swing at his assailant, but is blocked. He steps back to block the door behind him, so Eddy is safe from harm. Butchmath slays the skeleton in front of him, and Elly goes past him back into the corridor again, and fires het crossbow at the mummie down the hall. She misses though, and now the zombie is alerted to her presence, and lurches towards her, attacking her and scoring a solid hit. As the skeleton near Sjengis attacks the Barbarian and misses, the sleeping mummie continues to dream on.
Now Sjengis slays the skeleton in the small room, and Elly steps back into the room behind the Dwarf again. The zombie near him attacks, and takes two body points. Sjengis decides to go ahead and kill the last zombie, so the other two can rejoin them, but as he nears the legless zombie (that couldn’t move apparently), more undead appear in a hidden niche! “Curse you, Morcar!” he shouts, and swings the Spirit Blade at the nearest skeleton, killing it. “Oh no! I knew it!” says Eddy, and he fires off a Fire of Wrath spell on the legless zombie, burning it to a crisp. Meanwhile, the Dwarf and the Elf both attack the zombie at the hidden door, but it blocks both attacks.
One of the zombies near Sjengis Khan attacks him, taking one body point from him. The skeleton next to it attacks as well, but misses. The zombie in front of the Dwarf also scores a hit, and all the while, the guardian mummie sleeps on…
Sjengis swings his blade at the zombie in front of him, but it blocks his attack. He strategically walks back to the secret door to the small room where Eddy nervously awaits. “Oh good, you’re still in one piece” he says “be a good lad and block the door, I got your back!”
Butchmath finally manages to slay the persistent zombie, and he rushes into the corridor to help the others mop up the undead. Elly runs past him, and shoots down a skeleton. The two remaining zombies attack the Elf and the Barbarian, but they both block the attacks. The mummie sleeps on… Sjengis cleaves the zombie in half, and Eddy uses his Ball of Fire spell on the last zombie, redusing it to ashes.
Now all four heroes rejoin and head into the next rooms, carefully searching for traps all the way. Nothing eventfull happens and the Barbarian even finds 20 gold and a magical scroll with a Sleep spell along the way. As they exit the last room, they find the door, exiting the dungeon. And so our brave heroes survive another adventure! Stay tuned for more…

HeroQuest avond 16-02-2013
0Tonight we played quest three of Return of the Witch Lord: the Silent Passages.
Our four heroes enter the first hallway in this next dungeon. It is dark, and smells foul… Sjengis Khan The Barbarian is in first, as usual, and searches for traps. Satisfied that all is safe ahead, the others enter as well. Suddenly, a green swirling mist oozes around the far corner, slowly drifting towards our heroes. “What magic is this?” Eddy the Wizard asks. None of the others have ever seen anything like this before, so they venture on with caution. Elly the Elf takes the lead, and opens the first door she sees. Five skeletons await inside! Elly immediately shoots one of them down with her crossbow. Meanwhile, the green mist creeps closer, and passes the Elf. “I feel sick!” Elly cries, and her knees buckle… She lost one body point! The four remaining skeletons are heading for the door, towards the Elf, and the closest one attacks, but fortunately for Elly, it misses. “Out of my way!” Sjengis the Barbarian shouts, and leaps in front of the mist, heaving his Spirit Blade. The Mist swirls wildly around the blade, appearing to suffocate the Barbarian, but then suddenly vanishes. “Ha!” cries Sjengis victoriously “even foul magic is no match for a mighty barbarian!” “lucky shot” mumbles Eddy the Wizard. Eddy walks up to the Elf, hoping to aid her with his staff, but he misses the skeleton in the doorway. The Dwarf has nowhere to stand, so he just scurries arounf the others a bit. The Elf remembers she has a vial of holy water, so she throws it at one of the skeletons, and it immediately falls apart in a pile of bones. She steps back to make room for the thers to fall in.
Two skeletons walk out of the room, one attacking Eddy, but missing him by a hair, the other swinging at Sjengis Khan, but he deftly blocks the blow. The Barbarian hits back, and destroys his assaillant. Eddy manages a hit as well, and the skeleton is taken by surprise, and also falls apart. Now there’s just one skeleton left. The Dwarf steps in, rolling enough to reach the last skeleton, and swings his axe, but the skeleton blocks his swing! Meanwhile, the Elf is walking on through the corridor, reaching the corner. She searches for traps and secret doors, spots a pit trap some distance ahead, and positions herself in front of the next door. The last skeleton attacks Eddy again, but misses.
Now Sjengis swings his blade once more, disposing of the last skeleton, saving the Wizard from his undead enemy. Sjengis walks into the room where the skeletons were. Eddy follows, and searches the room for traps, but finds none. The Dwarf can now safely search the room for treasure, and he finds a scroll of psychic recovery. Elly opens the door to the room around the corner, and sees two mummies near a table. She fires her crossbow at the closest one, and it falls to the ground, dead. The other mummy slowly shambles towards her, but cannot reach her yet.
Meanwhile, Sjengis opens the next door, and sees three rotting zombies in the next room. Not sure if the room is trapped, the others wait, letting the undead come to them instead. Elly reloads her crossbow and quickly shoots the second mummy down. There is a door leading back to the zombie room, but she decides to wait before opening it.
One of the zombies heads to the Barbarian, drool dripping from its decaying jaw. It swings at Sjengis, but he easily dodges it. The Barbarian once again swings his Spirit Blade, and chops the zombie in half. While Eddy and the Dwarf wait for the other zombies to get closer, Elly searches the room with the table for traps and hidden doors. There are none to be found.
A second zombie attacks Sjengis, but misses. He attacks back, and lops off its head. Now the Elf feels confident enough to take on the last zombie, so she opens the door, takes a step back to take aim, and fires a crossbow bolt into the last zombies eye socket. It slumps to the ground, oozing blood and gore on the floor.
After searching the room for traps, the Barbarian and Wizard head towards the Elf’s room, but the Dwarf stumbles upon a wandering monster while searching for treasure. So surprised is he, that the skeleton hits for 2 points of damage! Elly fires her crossbow, and kills the skeleton, saving the poor Dwarf. “If you’re going to search for treasure, keep your eyes open for danger, short-round!” “Mind yer mouth lassy!” the Dwarf grumbles annoyed.
Sjengis Khan heads on through the corridor to where Elly has spotted the pit trap. The Wizard is close on his heels. As the Dwarf enters the room with the table, he searches for treasure again, feeling lucky this time. Another Wandering monster appears! This one manages to hit the Dwarf for another point of damage. “Blast it!” shouts the Dwarf, and again the Elf is left to take care of the skeleton. “I’m expecting to get some kind of payment for saving your arse so often” she smirks. Sulking, the Dwarf heads out to find the others.
The Barbarian takes out his toolkit, but as he closes the pit trap, his fingers get caught inbetween the moving tile, and he loses a body point. While the Wizard takes up position next to the following door, the Dwarf opens it, but only sees an empty room. He prudently searches the first tile in front of him for traps, and a spear trap goes off harmlessly. As the Elf catches up with the rest, the Barbarian steps into the empty room, and searches for hidden doors and traps, but there is nothing in this room. Not wanting to risk more wandering monsters, the Wizard just waits, while the Dwarf heads to the next turn in the long hallway, and finds another spear trap, which he immediately disables. The Elf passes him into the hallway.
Another door further along the corridor opens into a room, which has two skeletons standing aside a large tomb, and two more doors in the back of the room. The Dwarf kills one of them, and blocks the other one’s attack on him. Meanwhile, the others also step inside, but the Barbarian is hit by a hidden spear trap, and loses another body point. After the Dwarf has taken care of the second skeleton, the Elf searches for traps, but there are no other traps to be found. “Just my luck”, mutters Sjengis Khan. Both doors in the back open up into small rooms with a tomb in each plus a skeleton and a mummie. The Barbarian takes the left room, and the Elf takes the right. Both manage to swiftly kill the mummies, but now the skeletons step in and attack the Heroes. Fortunately, both heroes manage to fend off the weak skeletons’ attacks, and on their next turn they reduce the undead to dust. Meanwhile, the Wizard searches the main room with the tomb for treasure, and finds a 300 gold hoard!
The Barbarian searches his room, and finds a potion, but it turns out to be poison! Another body point is lost. The Dwarf has more luck this time and finds 25 gold pieces in the second grave. As our Heroes venture on into the dark corridor, they find a secret door, leading into a room with two mummies guarding another door. The Elf misses a shot, but blocks the door, so the mummies cannot walk out. One of them attacks her, but she just manages to block the attack. Eddy tries to aid her with his staff, but also misses. Elly steps back, so Sjengis can take over, and after a couple of blows, which both block, the Wizard tries with his staff again, and this time kills the mummie. Sjengis casts an annoyed look at Eddy, but he merely shrugs. “I thought I’d help” he says. The Dwarf heads in and kills the second mummie, and Elly opens the door into the next room. The room is lit by a cozy fireplace, with two chairs in front of it. Sweeping the room for traps, they find none, and prepare to open the next door. But of course, the Wizard can’t resist the urge to search the previous room for treasure, and wouldn’t you know it, another wandering monster steps out of a hidden niche. Once again, the Elf is the one to clean up the mess. Meanwhile, Sjengis is searching for treasure in the fireplace room, and another skeleton appears from behind the fireplace! “How many wandering monsters are there in this place!?” he shouts, and blocks an attack. The Wizard tries to aid, but his attack is blocked by the skeleton. The Dwarf is preoccupied with the door to the next room, and as he heads in, he falls into a pit trap right outside the door… “Curses!!!” he yells. “Yes, nice going there…” says the Elf, and shoots the skeleton down. “I always seem to be the one cleaning up after you guys!”. The Barbarian helps the Dwarf, by disabling the pit trap, but now his other hand is caught inbetween the tiles, and he loses a body point. “I really need to take lessons in disabling traps” he grumbles.
This time, the Dwarf searches the room before walking any further, and he finds two hidden spear traps, which go off harmlessly. The otherwise empty room opens up into the corridor again, which is blocked by a cave-in behind them, so they move on towards two more doors on their left. The first door reveals a room filled with skeletons and zombies, and the second merely holds a chest. The Wizard doesn’t take any chances. He heals the Barbarian, and passes both rooms, towards a large iron door. He has found the exit, and leaves. The Dwarf follows him, urging the others to follow and let the undead rot. But the Elf wants to know what’s in the chest, and finds 100 gold coins and a healing potion! Meanwhile, the Barbarian is trying to take on the undead one by one, but they seem reluctant to come to the door. “Smart undead” he thinks, and waits for the Elf to step in from the other side of the room. With both heroes fighting the undead, the evil monsters soon lay dead on the floor. There appears to be one more door, leading into another room. “Let’s just take a quick peek inside”, the Barbarian says, “if it’s filled with undead, we run.” “Sure thing” Elly says, and opens the door. The only thing inside is another chest. She searches the room for traps, and notices the chest is trapped. They find nothing inside, so they head out to the exit, following their friends into yet another new adventure!

HeroQuest avond 26-12-2012
0 Another new quest has lead our 4 brave heroes to a new challenge: The Cold Halls.
The heroes equip themselves with 3 new chainmails, giving them a total of 5 defense dice, except for the Wizard, who still has 4. They all but a toolkit for traps, and head inside.
As out heroes enter the first room, they see two mummies and 3 zombies inside. The Barbarian immediately rushes in to attack one of the mummies. It manages to ward off one hitpoint, but it’s not enough, as the Barbarian hit him for two points with his Spirit Blade. The mummie falls to the floor.
The Wizard uses his staff do perform a diagonal attack from outside the room on one of the zombies, but it blocks the attack.
The Dwarf heads in for the second mummie, and scores a solid hit, killing the monster with one fell blow.
The zombies are now fully alert, and smell blood, so the Elf steps up and shoots one down.
One zombie, without legs, crawls towards the Dwarf, as that’s the only hero he can easily reach, much to the amusement of the others, and attacks. The Dwarf blocks the attack.
The second remaining zombie attacks the Barbarian, but he easily wards off the creature’s flailing limbs.
He immediately strikes back at it, chopping its head off. The Wizard walks in, but lets the Dwarf handle the last zombie.
The Elf searches the room for hidden traps, but finds none. Now the Barbarian enters the next door, and finds only a circular room. He walks in, followed by the Wizard. The Dwarf searches the previous room for treasure, and finds a spell scroll with a heal body spell. Then he also walks into the round chamber, along with the Elf.
The door closes behind them, and a rumbling sound is heard…
The door opens again, and the Barbarian heads out. It’s the same room they came from, so he uses his movement to head back inside.
The Wizard rolls 5, and sees the door opening again, but this time into a new room, filled with 4 zombies! He decides to stay inside.
The Dwarf rolls one, and notices the door opening into the first room again.
The Elf also rolls 5, and is too afraid to enter the mummie-filled room alone, so skips her turn as well…
Now, the Barbarian rolls 5, and bravely enters the room. He rolls 6 movement, so he’s got enough steps to reach the corner next to the cabinet. He decides that’s the best spot to ward off the mummies, and take them on one by one, so he waits there.
The Wizard skips another turn, and the Dwarf rolls 6, and heads into a new corridor, with 3 zombies waiting there. He attacks the first zombie, but misses!
The Elf rolls 3, and sees the door opening into yet another corridor. She doesn’t want to get too far from the others, so she skips her turn.
Now one of the mummies attacks the Barbarian, rolling two skulls. But the Barbarian defends with 3 shields, so takes no damage. The other mummies crowd in on him. The zombie attacks the Dwarf, rolling 3 skulls, and the Dwarf only manages to block 2 hits, taking 1 damage.
Now the Barbarian swings his Spirit Blade at the first mummie, and cuts it in half. The Wizard rolls 6, and spots the Dwarf’s backside, blocking the way out… He skips another turn.
The Dwarf attacks his zombie again, this time killing it successfully. The Elf rolls another 3, so decides to wait it out once more.
One of the mummies scores a solid hit versus the Barbarian, taking away a body point. A second zombie attacks the Dwarf, but misses.
The Barbarian finds he’s feeling cramped in his little corner, and can’t swing his sword very well, and misses his attack on a mummie.
The Wizard rolls 2, and seeing the first room again, skips yet another turn. Now the Dwarf kills the second zombie, but stays there, waiting for the last one to come to him.
The Elf rolls 5, and sees the Barbarian stuck in a corner, with 3 mummies on him. She walks in, and shoots one mummie, but it dodges both her crossbowbolts.
Now the mummie near the Barbarian attacks again for 2 skulls, but the Barbarian has taken advantage of his tight spot, and rolls 5 shields!
A second mummie attacks the Elf, and takes one body point from her.
The Barbarian learns quickly (on account of his Talisman of Lore), and stabs the mummie in front of him in the head with his blade. It dies on the spot. Two mummies left!
The Wizard rolls 4, and finally sees his friends. He steps in, and attacks one mummie with his staff, scoring one hit, which turns out to be enough to kill it! Huzzah!
The Dwarf now steps forward a bit, as the zombie did not advance during the last round, to leave room for his friends to follow him.
The Elf shoots at the last mummie, but misses!
It attacks the Barbarian, unaware of the Elf’s attack, but our hero blocks again, taking no damage. Now the last zombie crawls towards the Dwarf, and hits for one BP of damage.
Now our Barbarian friend finally kills the last mummie, allowing the Wizard to search for hidden doors and traps. A secret door opens behind the Barbarian.
While the Dwarf kills the last zombie, the Elf heads into the hidden room behind the wardrobe, expecting to find Narnia, but she only sees a chest.
The Barbarian searches the mummie-room for treasure, and finds some holy water in the closet!
He heads back into the revolving room, followed by the Wizard.
The Dwarf searches the corridor for hidden traps and doors, and discovers a secret door to the central room. As he peeks inside, he only spots a stairway.
The Elf searches for traps in the hidden room with the chest, but finds nothing. She heads towards the chest.
The Barbarian and the Wizard only manage to roll a 1 and a 4, revealing only the rooms they’ve already been to, so they both skip their turn. The Dwarf searches the central room for traps, but finds none. He heads back into the corridor, and onto the next door.
The Elf finds 300 gold in the chest, and heads back to the revolving room.
The Barbarian rolls 2, and the room opens into a new corridor! He heads out as the doors align, and searches the small hallway for traps, but finds nothing. There’s a door leading into another room. The Wizard and the Dwarf await the rest and skip their turns. The Elf reaches the rotating room. The Barbarian walks on into the new room, and sees a tomb guarded by two chaos warriors. He doesn’t have enough movement left to reach one, so he has to wait. The Wizard rolls another 2, and is forced to wait once more. The Dwarf meanwhile opens the door to the next room, but finds it to be empty. He looks for hidden traps and doors, but the room remains empty.
The Elf rolls a 3, and follows the Barbarian into the tomb room. She has a clear line of sight with one of the chaos warriors, so she fires her crossbow, and kills him on the spot!
The remaining chaos warrior attacks the barbarian, rolling 2 skulls, but the Barbarian rolls 2 shields, and remains unharmed. He attacks back, and barely kills the chaos warrior. The Wizard rolls another 5 and remains in the revolving room again…
The Dwarf decides to search his room for treasure, and finds a healing potion! He heads for the next door, and opens it into another corridor.
The Elf searches the tomb room for hidden traps and doors, and discovers a door into another room. A chaos warrior is inside, and walks out, heading straight for the intimidating Barbarian. Caught by surprise, he suffers one damage at the fiend’s hands. He attacks back, but only scores one skull, which the heavily armoured chaos warrior blocks. Finally, the Wizard rolls 6, and heads out after the Dwarf. The Dwarf heads into the next corridor, searching for traps, but it’s safe. Now the Elf heads for the chaos warrior, keeping shooting distance, and fires her crossbow. One of her bolts slips inbetween the armourplates of the chaos warrior, and hits a vital spot. He crumbles to the floor.
The Barbarian now walks into the room with the sorcerer’s table, and carefully checks for traps, but finds nothing. While the Wizard follows the Dwarf’s path, the Dwarf reaches the end of the corridor. He searches the left and right passages for hidden traps and doors, setting off a spear trap, and opening 4 secret doors… An eerie grating sound follows, and 4 heavy thuds. A foul air rushes into the hallways. The Elf finds 300 gold in the room with the sorcerer’s table, and the Barbarian heads back to the tomb, and searches the room and the tomb for treasure. A sparkling mist emerges from the tomb, and fills the room. It apparently has no effect on him.
The Dwarf now walks up to the first hidden door at his left, and sees a skeletal figure insode, standing next to an opened tomb. This is a Spirit Rider! A particularly nasty undead creature… The Wizard walks up to the Dwarf, so he can assist with his staff or a spell if needed.
The Spirit Rider walks up to the Dwarf, and lets out a bone chilling shriek, and rolls 4 skulls! The Dwarf nearly wets his chainmail pants, and rolls only one shield, taking 3 damage! As the Elf and Barbarian make their way back to the revolving room, the Wizard enchants the Dwarf with Courage, granting him 2 extra attack dice on his next attack.
The Dwarf rolls his dice, and rolls only 2 skulls. The Spirit Rider rolls 2 black shields, and wards of the attack entirely. Such a waste of a good spell, the Wizard thinks. The Spirit Rider attacks again, scoring another body point of damage to the Dwarf. He uses his healing potion, healing up to six body points again.
Now the Wizard uses his staff to attack the Spirit Rider, and actually scores one hit. But the undead monster isn’t dead yet. He still has 2 body points remaining! These guys are tough!
The Barbarian and Elf meanwhile reach the revolving room, and the Dwarf attacks again. This time he scores 2 hits, and the Rider cannot defend against them, so it falls apart on the dungeon floor. One down, 3 to go!
The Barbarian rolls a lucky 6, and jumps into the corridor, trying to catch up with the others. The Wizard searches the first room for traps, but finds nothing. The Dwarf looks for treasure, and finds a potion of dexterity. He heads for the next room on the left, where a second Spirit Rider awaits.
The Elf is also in luck, and rolls a 6, so she too can go after the others. The new Spirit Rider attacks the Dwarf who so rudely has awakened it from its eternal sleep, and rolls 3 skulls versus 2 shields, dealing 1 body point of damage.
As the Barbarian and Elf close in on the others, the Wizard uses his Fire of Wrath spell on the Spirit Rider, with success! It is now down to 2 body points. The Dwarf attacks, but misses… The Rider attacks back, and deals two more points of damage.
By now the Barbarian has reached the Dwarf, but can’t attack the Spirit Rider. The Wizard uses his Heal Body spell on the Dwarf, healing him back to seven body points. And so the Dwarf, with renewed strength, attacks once more, scoring a solid hit. Only one BP left! The Dwarf decides the Barbarian is better equipped with the Spirit Blade, so he makes way for him to attack, and steps back. Now the evil Spirit Rider attacks the Barbarian, but with a 2 versus 2 roll, he takes no damage. The Barbarian rolls a 1 versus 1 attack, dealing no damage as well. The Elf meanwhile reaches door number three, and shoots her crossbow into the room at the third Spirit Rider, scoring 3 skulls versus zero black shields, felling the creature right away in one blow! “And that’s how it’s done men!” she smiles.
The second Spirit Rider attacks the Barbarian again, but is easily blocked.
The Barbarian follows up the attack, and scores 2 solid hits with his blade, reducing the Rider to a pile of bones as well. Only one left!
The Wizard decides it’s his turn to kill one of the foul creatures as well, and uses his Genie spell on the last one. Four skulls versus one black shield means death to the last Spirit Rider.
The Dwarf Finds a potion of rejuvenation, and the Elf triggers a hidden spike trap, but nothing interesting happens after this, so the foursome heads for the center room with the staircase and head out, to face yet another adventure! Stay tuned!!!
